CULT / Ray
The first original overdrive pedal of CULT, “Ray”. This is not aimed for any of the categorized tonal character existing today. As people would imagine from the word “Ray” (= Beam), this pedal is aimed to produce the driving sound which also has sensitivity and dynamism. This modern and highly versatile overdrive has been focused on touch response and quick attack, enabling fatness and emphasis which are to be negatively correlated, also giving a pleasant sense of compression. Ray has original circuit design to achieve these characters, and though it comes to the use of the following stale description, this pedal does not belong to any of the “xxx types of pedal” genre.

Volume
Adjusts the volume. Considered to be used as a booster, the maximum is set to be higher than standard overdrive pedals.

Drive
Adjusts the amount of distortion. As well as covering sufficient amount of distortion, clean sound is provided at the minimum, which enables it to be used as a booster.

Bass
Adjusts very specific band in the low end. Realizes the fatness without any sag nor collapse, does not interfere the texture of distortion.

Treble
Adjusts high end. Aimed to filter wide range in the high end, to create multiple sound variations.

Power
Compatible with stabilized DC 9 to 18V (20mA or more) external power source. Due to environmental preservation viewpoint, this pedal does not function with disposable internal power source (batteries).

DESIGN
The undesired operation of control knobs which could happen at any time during transportation while kept in the cases, being kept at backstage or on stage, the use in recording or live situations are tend to become serious troubles for players and guitar/bass technicians. In order to solve this issue, we have designed CULT original enclosure which highly omits bumps of control knobs. This enables all the controllability of knobs, viewability of the settings and prevention of erroneous operations simultaneously.
In order to realize this complex structure and detailed design of the enclosure, we have applied light weighed and highly robust “Extra Super Duralumin” alloy. Since all the enclosures are scraped from extra super duralumin material with high accuracy, it enables to reproduce internal structure which requires precision while maintaining robustness. Also, since all the letters are engraved by patented technology based laser beam machining, necessary information will not be worn away.

CIRCUIT
“Linearly driving the element which creates musical distortion”, “To achieve impeccable and complementary tone controller which does not largely interfere the driving sound”, both are the basic concept of Ray’s circuit design. “Combination with the element” which creates extremely musical distortion seems to have no precedent. We were clear from the beginning of the development that if only we could output the tonal character without any losses, the aiming overdrive sound, the distortion which have both separativeness of chords and pleasant fatness would be achieved. In addition to the ideal overdrive producing section, there are 2 tone controllers “Treble” and “Bass” which produce sufficient enough sound variations without largely interfering the character. As a result of combination with this element, having finely tuned tone controllers for this concept, the circuit had become very original to have no precedent.
We had no compromises on the choices of the electronic components, especially the operational amp which contributes largely to the speed of the touch response costs 100 times more than the common ones applied to many effect pedals.

WARRANTY
The warranty period of Ray is 5 years from the production.
All Ray pedals have production date engraved on its bottom. We guarantee the quality of the product under ordinary use situation for 5 years from that date. This guarantee applies to all the users including second and further owners. The repair during this warranty period is done free of charge.
*It will be beyond warranty when the damage is occurred on the ones modified or repaired by the third party, the cosmetic change such as scratches or stains, the damage is due to the wrong operation or disasters. The shipping fee for the repair is to be covered by the client.
